About the event
This summer, Upstairs Artspace welcomes artist and guest instructor Grace Lertora, who will teach a series of classes called “Draw It, Then Paint It.”
Classes are from 2-5 p.m., on six Sunday afternoons, starting July 9 and running through August 13.
The first three classes will teach drawing with the goal to improve acrylic painting skills; the last three classes will apply those skills on acrylic painting.
The six-class series will cost $300 per student with a maximum of 10 students.
“I am very excited to teach these classes at Upstairs Artspace,” Lertora said. “I am a firm believer that in order to be the best painter that you can be, you need to have solid drawing skills. This class will take the students through the drawing process, using mostly still lifes and landscapes, and then apply those skills to acrylic painting. Beginners are very welcome. Students with some previous art instruction and experiences will benefit the most. I intend for the class to be fun, but getting results will be the number one priority.”
Students will work on composition, line, values of dark and light, and patterns. A still-life will be set up each week for practice.
