Drawing and Painting with Nude Models

Upstairs Artspace will provide access to nude models in the gallery for artists wanting to hone their drawing and painting skills. There will be four consecutive three-hour sessions on Sunday afternoons, 2-5 p.m., Oct. 15-Nov. 5.

The sessions will be non-instructive: No teacher will be present. The participants will work independently, providing their own supplies. The gallery will provide group tables and chairs. The sessions will have a maximum of 10 participants, and at least eight participants will be needed for the sessions to be held. The cost is $135 for the four sessions. 

Each session will have a male or female model, alternating each week. The models will be Michael Ray of Greenville and Nena Butterfield of Tryon. Ray is a professional model and has worked with nearly every college and university in the region. In addition, he has modeled for various drawing groups and individual artists in the region. Butterfield is an experimental psychologist with more than 10 years of experience working with children with autism and developmental disabilities. She holds several academic degrees, including a doctorate from the University of Bristol (England). She has modeled for drawing sessions at other galleries in Tryon.
