Figure Drawing for Serious Beginners

Tryon’s contemporary art gallery Upstairs Artspace will offer a series of three figure-drawing classes for serious beginners in June, taught by noted artist Scott Cunningham of Spartanburg. The two-and-half-hour classes will be held June  11, 18, and 25 starting at 2 p.m. and will cost a total of $150 per person. Each class will include instructed drawing of a live model with the last class featuring a nude model. The program is limited to 10 students. Classes are geared toward serious beginners. There is a rigorous syllabus of exacting exercises that will dovetail with the drawing of the model during the latter half of each class. 

Students must bring the following: 

• #2 pencils

•  ink pen (whether nib, felt tip, or ball point is their choice)

• vine charcoal

• a pad of 18x24” newsprint
