Birds of a Feather: Liz Williams

Upstairs Artspace is proud to present Birds of a Feather, a group exhibition on view from April 19 through May 29, 2026.

Located in Asheville, NC, Liz Williams has worked as a visual artist for 10 years exploring the line between the real and fantastic elements of life in the South in a variety of media including photography and illustration. Her work ranges from t-shirt designs calling for the dismantling of anti-LGBTQ legislation for Equality NC to portraits of nationally acclaimed musicians to animations of family cats. She is the program manager for the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Southern Equality Studios, a project that explores how the arts can be a catalyst and force in achieving lived and legal LGBTQ equality across the South. Liz’s work has had the honor of exhibiting at numerous art spaces including the Asheville Art Museum, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, Atlanta Contemporary, and the African American Atelier. Their contributions to art and activism have been recognized by the Tzedek Impact Award, the Center for Craft’s Craft Futures Fund, and Click! Photography Festival.
