Upstairs Artspace Welcomes Two New Board Members

Upstairs Artspace in Tryon is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors: Patricia Sahertian and Libby Skamfer. Both attended their first board meeting this spring.

“Our Board of Directors brings together a committed group of professionals united by a shared vision, to help Upstairs Artspace flourish as a gathering place for creativity and connection in our community,” said Board President Sandy Miller. “We’re thrilled to welcome Libby and Patricia, and we are eager to utilize their insights, creativity, and enthusiasm as we continue our mission here at Upstairs.”

Patricia Sahertian brings more than 35 years of experience in graphic design and arts management to the Upstairs board. As a former art director in New York, Sahertian worked with high-profile clients including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ace Frehley. Her background also includes gallery management, exhibition installation, and university-level mentorship. Today she is co-owner of JS and PS, a digital design firm specializing in web and graphic design, and she is founder and editor-in-chief of Kreatif, an international arts and literature magazine. Sahertain is an active supporter of the regional art scene through volunteering.

“Upstairs Artspace is a vital hub for contemporary art. I look forward to supporting its programs, promoting local artists, and helping the arts thrive in our community and beyond,” Sahertian says.

Libby Skamfer is a new board member and serves on the Exhibits Committee, bringing artistic experience and creative energy. After a career as a master goldsmith, Skamfer now focuses on painting in acrylic and mixed media at her home studio.

“I’m honored to join the Upstairs board - a passionate team of art lovers and art advocates who generously give their time and energy to promote a memorable art experience,” she says.

As a member of the Exhibits Committee, Skamfer hopes to broaden the net for attracting artists, expand community and youth art educational programs, and develop new ways to expose new art to new audiences.
