What art school critiques are really like

Eldred Hudson will lead the Aug. 27 art crit class.

Have you ever wondered what goes on in an art critique class?

Wonder no more and come to an "art crit" class at Upstairs Artspace. It will be led by Eldred Hudson, curator of the current exhibition, “Makers & Mentors: Balancing Art Practice and Teaching,” on Wednesday, August 27, starting at 2 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

A retired UNC Charlotte art professor, Hudson will lead our group class in a lively critique of the exhibition which features the work of 12 art educators who teach all levels from kindergarten to university.

Critiques are a core component of art education, offering students a chance to articulate their vision and to receive feedback and constructive criticism. At this crit, however, the artists won't be present, so guests can feel free to express whatever comes to mind.
